Achievement: Fuel for Sustainable Success

Note: This is a quick reminder to start with my original post, entitled “The Beginning: Foundations of Perspective and Identifying the Worries of Our World” to follow my WOLF to ALPHA process in order. Enjoy and thanks for stopping by!

“The greatest achievement is to outperform yourself.” Denis Waitley

Knowing we have been in a certain situation or a similar one before, where we were able to persevere and find success, is a powerful experience we can call upon to conquer new challenges on our path to becoming an ALPHA. Any achievement from your past, no matter how small or large, is proof that you are capable of getting things done when you invest your time and energy.

Applying for a new job can be scary, and overwhelming, especially if you really want the position. Take a moment and recall that you have likely been on interviews before and found success. If you applied for a job previously and failed, what feedback did you get on how to improve? What did you learn from that experience that can better prepare you for the upcoming interview? If not, what is a challenge you faced where you had to put your best foot forwards and display your abilities with confidence? You have been here before, take solace in knowing you are capable, and follow the “From WOLF to ALPHA” process to prepare yourself for your next great achievement!

Making a list to start your day, or the night before, is a quick and easy tool for tracking your responsibilities, and more importantly, for acknowledging your hard work, and building confidence throughout your day. Below is an example of a short list of manageable but impactful tasks to have a productive and rewarding day. I can assure you from personal experience, it feels good to cross out and knock things off the list as you go about your business.

  • Email my boss when I get to work about the progress on my current project
  • Make time to actually eat lunch during my lunch break
  • Call my grandmother on the way home from work
  • Clean the inside of my car before I head inside for the evening
  • Make and pack a lunch for tomorrow
  • Read 10 pages of my new book before bed

Remember that we prioritize and make the necessary time for the things we want in life. Create a list with the attitude that you will MAKE the time to complete each task and not add it to tomorrow’s agenda!

The American Film Institute awarded Bette Davis their “Lifetime Achievement Award” in 1977 for her contributions and enrichment of American culture through her work in movies and television.
In 2023, Dr. Greata Strong was awarded the “U.S. Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award” for her outstanding and continued volunteer services in the area of health care education. One thing that both of these remarkable women have in common is a commitment to success, and continued achievement over a long period of time. Reaching a goal is great and should be celebrated, however, setting a new goal to continue to challenge yourself, and pursue new opportunities for growth, is the foundation of truly successful people and the key takeaway from the last step in the “From WOLF to ALPHA” process.

For our final activity, entitled “Small Wins Lead to Great Achievements,” we are going to explore how even the smallest achievements, can serve as building blocks to our greatest successes.

Below are some positive affirmations from Copilot, that you can use to reaffirm your beliefs and hard work. Remember to write them down or say them out-loud at least five times a day!

  • I am capable, strong, and unstoppable in achieving my dreams.
  • Every challenge I face is an opportunity for growth and success.
  • I deserve success, and I am ready to claim it.
  • My hard work and perseverance are paving the way for my achievements.

We all have to address our inner WOLF, in order to move past and overcome the worries, obstacles, limiting beliefs, and past failures that have been holding us back, and keeping us from living our best lives in the present moment. We can turn a perceived weakness, or area of need, into a strength and asset, if we prioritize our time and energy, hold ourselves accountable, let go of what no longer serves us, and carry out a plan of action built upon good, healthy habits, and an unquenchable thirst for continued growth and achievement in our lives. I hope you have enjoyed and learned something as part of the “From WOLF to ALPHA” process. I certainly enjoyed developing it and sharing it with you.

Please share your experiences, or work from the provided activity above to inspire others!
